A launch event was held in Doha for Galileo International School, Muaither, to mark the official opening of its new facilities.
The event was attended by a number of officials.
“Thinking schools, learning nations” is the paradigm at the heart of teaching and learning at Galileo International School, Doha, which follows the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum.
“Implementing a thinking curriculum depends on highly skilled creative and flexible educators who are able to adapt their pedagogy to prepare students for the world beyond tomorrow,” a
statement notes.
Operating as a CBSE school, Galileo International School is undertaking assessment reform to recognise students’ learning progress in terms of academic disciplines such as mathematics, science, literature, history, geography, art, music, health and so on but also in terms of general capabilities like collaboration, critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, digital literacy and personal and social capability, according to the
statement.
The school recruits and develops skilled Indian teachers who collaborate in delivering a high-quality curriculum, in developing appropriate learning materials and in understanding and acting on assessment results to enable improvements in teaching and learning.
The school takes a skills-based approach to curriculum design and teaching methods in order to provide students with “meaningful, hands-on” learning experiences, a globally-focused approach to learning, opportunities to select projects with a view to the pursuit of particular careers, based on their interests, talents and goals, and learning beyond the four walls of the classroom.
The co-scholastic programme, which includes opportunities for students and staff to work together in the school’s Eco club, Literary club, Science club, Art club and various intra-school competitions and activities, “enables students not only to develop, consolidate and
apply their skills in areas of interest to them, but also to show leadership, become experts and truly shine”.
“We have designed a unique curriculum for Communicative English, which enhances the communication and interacting skills of the students,” the
statement adds.
