His Excellency Mr. Khalid bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Iraq, praised the good organization of the 25th Arabian Gulf Football Championship (Gulf 25), which is being held in Basra for the second time after the 1979 edition, which was held in the capital, Baghdad.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency stressed that the tournament is witnessing a positive atmosphere and high organization at all levels, starting with receiving the participating delegations, and preparing all logistical matters and good stadiums.

He pointed out that the State of Qatar has supported the championship since it was decided to hold it in the Iraqi city of Basra, and was keen to participate at the highest levels, stressing that the State of Qatar supports all steps that contribute to helping the Iraqi people in various fields, including sports.

His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Iraq, who was constantly following the minute details of the tournament through continuous visits to Basra Governorate and meeting with its officials, added that the tournament is witnessing security stability in addition to the availability of all services for fans of the GCC national teams, pointing to the completion of all organizational matters. His Excellency praised the local authorities in Basra, led by Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, who made exceptional efforts to make the tournament a success and coordinated with all delegations, especially the Qatari delegation.

His Excellency Mr. Khalid bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Iraq, concluded his statement by stressing that the tournament has historical importance for the Gulf, its countries and its teams through the traditional competition between them, expressing his wishes that the course of the tournament will go to the fullest and that it will enjoy the desired success.

Iraq will host the 25th session of the Arab Gulf Football Championship, Gulf 25/ in Basra, and the championship competitions will start today and continue until January 19.
