HE Public Health Minister Inaugurates Al Hemaila Medical Center

Doha, July – HE the Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammad Al Kuwari inaugurated on Saturday Al Hemaila Medical Center for workers in the Industrial Area in the presence of a number of officials from the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).

Al Hemaila Medical Center is the second expatriate workers’ health center to be opened this year after Mesaimeer Health Center. A number of other health projects for workers are decided to be open during the next period. These projects include three hospitals, a specialized center for diabetes-associated diseases and a medical commission unit in Ras Laffan.

In her statements in the inauguration ceremony, HE the Minister asserted that the ministry is keen on providing workers with comprehensive health services where they are located. The Minister clarified that the inauguration of Al Hemaila Medical Center comes as part of the expansion in health projects in order to meet Qatar’s population health needs.

HE Dr. Hana Al Kuwari pointed out that this month witnessed the inauguration of three health centers, two of which are health and wellness centers affiliated to the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), in addition to Al Hemaila Medical Center. Several health projects are currently set to complete, which in turn will contribute towards the development of our health system and provision of high-standard health services for citizens and residents.

She added that these health projects are an integral part of the efforts exerted to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 that states: “Qatar aspires to develop an integrated system for healthcare, managed according to world-class standards … All health services [of this system] will be accessible to the entire population”.
HE Dr. Hanan Mohammad Al-Kuwari expressed thanks to the Private Engineering Office which constructed the center and which has been participating in the construction of a number of important health projects in accordance with high-quality standards.

The capacity of the center is 24 thousand visiting patients per month. The center will be operated by QRCS under an agreement with MOPH.

Al Hemaila Medical Center includes 11 general clinics, in addition to specialized clinics in the fields of cardiology, dentistry, ophthalmology, radiology, echo, and two inpatient clinics. The center also includes sections for acute cases, minor surgeries and bandage, laboratory, pharmacy and triage.

On his part, Executive Director and Acting Secretary General of the Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) Fahad bin Mohammed Al Naimi, expressed his pleasure in participating in the official opening ceremony of Al Hemaila Medical Center for workers.

“The Centre is the latest joint achievements of Ministry of public health and the Qatari Red Crescent, Ministry of Public Health has thankfully entrusted us with the mission of managing and running a series of health workers centers and units of Medical Commission, in the framework of the strategic partnership between the two entities since a long time,” he said.

He added that over these years of cooperation, QRCS has operated such health facilities efficiently and skillfully through the appointment of highly qualified and trained medical and administrative staff, which, in addition to QRCS’s extensive expertise in the medical sector, has enabled it to provide distinctive service for patients.
