Mowasalat (Karwa), represented by its Karwa Driving School (KDS) team, has participated in a research study conducted by Qatar University (QU) with the aim of identifying the personal attributes of professional drivers in Qatar and their influence of risky driving behaviour.
The study revealed that risky driving behaviour could be attributed to the mode of transportation, origin and years of driving experience and personal attitudes, according to a press statement.
Particularly risky driving behaviour was noticed in school zones, which highlighted the need to emphasise certain safety hazards and training programmes to make drivers more professional through different driving schools in the state.
These results were obtained through a study conducted by QU by following a methodology of sampling nonprofessional and professional drivers in order to analyse the traffic safety culture among motorists.
The study was conducted with the help of the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences.
Essential support was provided by the Karwa Driving School operations manager in getting responses to the questionnaire among trainees of diverse nationalities and with their own personal attributes and attitudes towards driving.
Dr Saad bin Ahmed al-Mohannadi, chairman of Mowasalat, said: “With the 2022 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, the road design and structure in Qatar changing to enhance traffic safety and reduce traffic congestion and causalities through the implementation of a sustainable road and transportation network. The education of drivers on the concept of traffic safety and development of the driving skills and behaviours of professional drivers is done by Mowasalat through the driving licences training programmes offered by KDS, which will reflect on public roads in Qatar.”
