President of QOC Attends Opening Round of Doha Diamond League
Doha – President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani attended Friday the launch of the Doha Diamond League 2016.
Promising Qatari runner Abdel Elah Haroun won bronze in the 400m, covering the distance in 44.81 seconds. The Qatari athlete had won silver in March in the World Championship, breaking the Asian record for the 400m in the process.
Former Olympic champion LaShawn Meritt starred and won gold. He also carries the record for the Doha round, with 44.19 seconds he achieved in 2014.
