Qatar Airways, in a n effort to encourage expatriates with valid residential permits and their children above 18 years to use e-gate services at the Hamad International Airport, has made it mandatory for its more than 40,000 employees globally to enrol for the services.

Akbar al Baker, the chief executive officer of Qatar Airways Group, stated, that the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has invested heavily on e-gate service and it is highly recommended that  everyone should use it.

Furthermore, Baker explained that the Prime Minister and Interior Minister His Excellency  Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani inspected this service check its efficiency, as reported Qatar Tribune.

The main idea behind the project is to ease entry or exit processes for passengers through self-service devices, depending on smart technology, without the need for them to approach counter staff, as Baker pointed out.

Thus, with the e-gate facility, passengers do not need to stand in long queues and wait for the Passport Control officer to verify their personal data and put the departure or arrival stamp on their passports
