Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) president Mohamed Ali al-Mannai is leading a high-level Qatari delegation, from the CRA and Qatar Post (Q-Post), to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Third Extraordinary Congress, which is taking place from September 24 at the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG) in Switzerland. The UPU Congress is held to review and decide on proposed changes related to UPUs remuneration rate system of E format letter-post items (bulky letters and small packets). Member countries attending the Extraordinary Congress will decide between three proposals submitted by the UPU Council of Administration and Postal Operations Council in this regard. In addition, the congress will discuss any urgent postal sector issues, during the committees meetings and plenary sessions, which are attended by over 800 high-profile representatives from the UPU member countries. “CRA ensures to attend the Universal Postal Union congresses and key meetings of its Council of Administration to participate in the discussions and decisions making, which will contribute to shaping the future of the global postal sector, and thus have a direct effect on the development of the postal sector and the other sectors associated with postal services in Qatar,” said al-Mannai.
