Qatar’s trade surplus with Japan is $1.5 billion

Official data showed that Qatar’s trade surplus with Japan in August 2022 increased by 104.5 percent on an annual basis, driven by the growth of Qatari exports. According to the monthly report of the Japanese Ministry of Finance issued yesterday, the value of the surplus in favor of Qatar last month amounted to 214.42 billion yen, about 1.49 billion dollars, compared to 104.86 billion yen, about 731.22 million dollars in August of 2021. The growth of the surplus in favor of Qatar contributed to the increase in its exports to Japan. In the previous August, it increased by 102.1 percent to 223.65 billion yen, about 1.56 billion dollars, knowing that it was in the same month last year, 110.67 billion yen, about 771.74 million dollars.

As for Qatari imports from Japan, they reached 9.23 billion yen ($64.36 million) last month, compared to 5.81 billion yen ($40.51 million), an annual increase of 58.9%. At the level of the Middle East, the value of the surplus in its favor with Japan in the previous August amounted to 1.43 trillion yen, about 9.97 billion dollars, an increase of 107.1 percent from its level in the same month of last year, which amounted to 692.15 billion yen, about 4.83 billion dollars. The monthly report showed that Japan’s trade balance deficit rose 331.2% last month to 2.82 trillion yen, about $19.66 billion, compared to 653.42 billion yen, about $4.56 billion in August 2021.
