Qatar Tourism is leading a national strategy for tourism across various sectors with the aim of reaching six million visitors to Qatar annually by 2030 and enhancing the contribution of the tourism sector to the gross domestic product to 12% by 2030.

** Increasing tourist facilities

Qatar has witnessed a great development in the infrastructure and tourism facilities during the last period, as many high-end resorts, entertainment cities, beaches and shopping malls have opened, in addition to the inauguration of many hotels, as the country witnessed an increase in the number of hotel rooms, which reached 45 thousand hotel by the end of 2022.

** Facilities to enter Qatar

Qatar has announced facilities for entering its lands to attract tourists from all over the world, as citizens of more than 95 countries are entitled to enter the State of Qatar without a visa.

** Winter tourism programs

Less than a month after the end of the exceptional World Cup in Qatar, the Qatar Tourism Authority announced a package of plans and programs for the new year 2023, as part of its endeavor to achieve its strategy to make Qatar a global tourist destination, as Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways unveiled the “Winter in Qatar” activities. Which includes a variety of entertainment activities and events that meet all requirements and interests, and aims to establish Qatar as a tourist destination suitable for all visitors.

The events and activities that coincide with the winter season in Qatar include the Qatar Balloon Festival in its third edition, which began and will continue until January 28, with more than 50 balloons from 17 different countries decorating the Doha sky. The festival, which lasts for 10 days, will include the launch of a large group of balloons at sunrise, enabling visitors to see Doha in a dazzling way, in addition to the “night glow” show with its lighting, where all 50 balloons, lit in the most beautiful colors, gather in the sky of Doha, and will be available at the festival. Many food options, and a wide range of live concerts will be held throughout the festival, presented by a number of singing and music stars, and much more, to create an entertainment atmosphere of unlimited fun.

Qatar Airways and Qatar Tourism also present the world-famous and distinguished artistic production “Disney Princesses Concert” in Doha and at Katara Amphitheater, in partnership with “Disney Concerts” and the Broadway Entertainment Group. Over the course of three nights, from January 26-28, some of Broadway and the West End’s most celebrated artists will perform this unique concert for the Disney Princesses, as well as a live orchestral performance by the prestigious Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Fuwairit Resort will host the world tour of the Kitesurfing Freestyle World Championship (GKA), from January 31 to February 4. On the other hand, next February will witness the organization of the Qatar Total Open Championship in its 21st edition, as it will be held in the outdoor courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, from the 13th to the 18th of February 2023.

From February 20 to 25, visitors to Qatar will be dazzled by the 19th edition of the Doha Jewelery and Watches Exhibition, which has been an example of luxury and elegance for nearly two decades. In early March, the 12th edition of the Qatar International Food Festival will open, which will last until March 11, to celebrate the diverse offerings offered by Qatar in the food, beverage and hospitality sectors, in addition to many events, various workshops and daily entertainment activities with live lessons in Cooking is provided by chefs from around the world.

As for the Qatar Shopping Festival, it is scheduled to start from March 1 to 18, and includes a wide range of retail, beauty and entertainment options in the famous shopping centers in Doha. This festival is an annual event aimed at promoting fashion and lifestyle in Qatar and highlighting Qatari hospitality. .

During the holy month of Ramadan, visitors to Qatar will enjoy the most beautiful times of the year in the Ramadan markets sponsored by Qatar Tourism, spend the happiest evenings after breaking the fast and participate in family activities and events, in addition to learning about the traditions and customs during the holy month and watching the various celebrations.

** Cruise season

Qatar Tourism and the Qatar Ports Authority announced the start of the cruise season on January 15, with expectations of the arrival of more than 50 cruise ships and nearly 200,000 visitors from January to the end of April 2023.

Cruise passengers will be welcomed at the renovated Doha Port passenger terminal, which was recently home to major international cruise ships, which provided “floating accommodation” for thousands of international fans during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Officials are looking forward to another successful tourism season that contributes to the promotion of the cruise industry and the preservation of Qatar’s position as a leading tourism center in the region, amid an emphasis on harnessing all the capabilities of Qatar to ensure the provision of the best services and to secure an enjoyable and safe travel experience for tourists, starting from the moment the ships arrive until they leave the dock.
