The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is organising a range of cultural and musical performances as well as safety and security awareness programmes for communities at Asian Town in the Doha Industrial Area and Al Khor Barwa Workers’ Recreation Complex from 5pm-10pm tomorrow.
This comes on the occasion of the IAAF World Athletics Championships (Doha 2019), which begins tomorrow.
Indian and Bangladeshi artistes will perform cultural and traditional shows on a specially arranged “mega stage” in the parking area of the cricket stadium at Asian Town. There will also be musical performances by orchestra troupes in multiple Asian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Nepalese, Malayalam, Urdu, Tamil and Sinhalese.
In addition, singers and artistes residing in Qatar — and representing various nationalities — will be able to display their talents in both mega events, which will be held with the participation of thousands of workers and community members from different parts of Qatar, the MoI has said in a statement.
The Barwa Workers’ Recreation Complex in Al Khor will host cultural shows and musical performances of Asian community artistes along with performances by orchestra troupes.
The events will comprise musical, cultural, folklore and traditional shows by community teams representing different Asian nationalities, including performances by prominent orchestra troupes from Qatar.
Along with cultural showcases, both the venues will also host safety and security awareness programmes by different departments of the Ministry of Interior, such as Traffic, Civil Defence, Al Fazaa, Community Policing Department, Search and Follow-up Department, and the Human Rights, Public Relations, Cybercrime Prevention and Drugs Prevention departments, the statement noted.
The MoI stressed that it is participating in the event with the aim of utilising the opportunity to reach out to the maximum number of expatriate
community members with safety and security messages in order to raise awareness among them on various matters related to their daily life.
The Public Relations Department at the MoI has urged the community members and employees of companies to attend the events in Doha and Al Khor and enjoy the cultural programmes, as well as benefit from the safety awareness tips that will be delivered by different departments of the ministry. Entry is free and there will be prizes for the audience through a draw.
