QU, Nama sign collaborative agreement

DOHA: Qatar University (QU) signed a collaborative agreement with the Social Development Center (Nama) yesterday, to establish collaboration in the field of volunteerism, community service, student leadership, entrepreneurship, and sports activities, as well as all social initiatives, projects and programs.

The agreement was signed by QU VP for Student Affairs Dr Khalid Al Khanji and Nama Acting Executive Director  Maryam Abdul Latif Al Mannai, in the presence of officials from both institutions.

The terms of the agreement include collaboration between both institutions on spreading the volunteering values among youth through creating opportunities for them to experience volunteering work and social entrepreneurship at home and abroad as a real temporary work and as part of living the reality of humanitarian work.

Both parties will collaborate to develop programs, volunteering opportunities, community-based students’ campaigns, and community leadership programs. They will also implement training programs specialised in skills and knowledge, and workshops specialised in directing and guiding entrepreneurs.

Other areas of collaboration include the promotion of entrepreneurial culture in the State of Qatar through the development of advanced digital training, rehabilitation, and awareness programs that align with rapid changes in the business world, as well as the implementation of research projects and studies for strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the State of Qatar.

In his remarks, Dr Khalid Al-Khanji said: “We are pleased to partner with the Social Development Center (Nama). This agreement will have a positive impact on our students as it will help them in the field of volunteerism, leadership and entrepreneurship. It will also serve to provide them with the opportunity to participate in various training programs, which will contribute to boosting their skills, knowledge and values.”

Maryam Abdul Latif Al Mannai said: “We are pleased to sign this collaborative agreement with Qatar University with the aim to develop human capacities and to support the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. We expect that this collaboration will contribute to the achievement of distinctive social work, and various events, programs and activities that serve the local community, inside or outside the university.”
