Qatar University Press (QU Press) yesterday initiated the procedures for signature of contracts with six authors whose books were selected to be its first publications at the opening of the academic year 2019/2020.
Implemented in accordance with the highest international publishing standards adopted by the QU Press, the selection and publication of these books took place in the presence of book authors, deans of colleges and media.
Speaking at QU Press’ first press conference, QU president Dr Hassan bin Rashid al-Derham said the QU Press is one of the most important initiatives to embody and achieve its mission and vision in realising Qatar National Vision 2030.
It seeks to raise the quality of scientific research, authorship and publishing in the State of Qatar, he said, adding that the publishing house is committed to provide an opportunity for researchers, authors and academics in the State of Qatar, the region and across the world to publish their scientific production.
QU Press director Prof Talal Abdulla al-Emadi said that the press conference is only the beginning of a series of conferences to highlight the production of the publishing house and its continuous giving.
Al-Emadi noted that the six books deserve to be the beginning of the actual work of the publishing house, after they were selected from a variety of scientific, knowledge and academic fields, taking into account the substantive and professional side, announcing that the QU Press will market all its production and present it in international forums and exhibitions and academic communities and across all modern media. — QNA
