Qatar University’s College of Pharmacy (QU-CPH) students bagged nine awards at the 65th International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) World Congress in Rwanda, it was announced yesterday.
The event gathered around 300 pharmacy students and recent graduates from 53 countries worldwide.
MSc student Shimaa Ahmed Aboelbaha won best scientific poster award for her study on “Potential Cardiotoxic Effects of Venetoclax: In-vitro study on Rat Cardiomyocyte H9C2 Cell Line,” which was conducted with Bodoor Aboujabal, under the supervision of Dr Hesham Korashy.
Aboelbaha also won first place in Best Advanced Counselling while P2 student Kheloud Khaled Hemida Awad won the first place in Patient Counselling Beginners.
PharmD student May Riyad Alasmar won third place for the educational poster award on “Stakeholder Perspective on Provision of Extended Pharmacy Services in the Middle East: A Systematic Review,” which was conducted with Wafaa Demdoum, under the supervision of Dr Zachariah Nazar.
Alasmar also won first place in Individual Clinical Skills for beginners, second place for Individual Clinical Skills Advanced and second place for Patient Counselling Advanced while P2 student Diala Kadri Alhaj Moustafa won the second place in Patient Counselling Beginners. QU-CPH is the first and only pharmacy degree programme in Qatar, offering a five-year bachelor’s degree, six-year Doctor of Pharmacy and a two-year MSc (Pharm) degree programme.
