David Schenker, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, expressed hope that the Gulf crisis would be resolved to reach a unified Gulf position in facing challenges, appreciating in this regard the mediation of the State of Kuwait led by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, and his efforts to bridge the Gulf rift and bring closer Point of views.
During a press conference he held remotely with representatives of the Kuwaiti media on the occasion of his current visit to Kuwait, Schenker pointed out the negative impact of the Gulf crisis “on our ability to face the threats facing the region” … referring to his country’s efforts to find a solution to this crisis at all levels. By saying, “The American efforts were not far from coordination with the State of Kuwait.”
On the other hand, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs praised the strength of the strategic relations between his country and the State of Kuwait, expressing appreciation for the Kuwaiti positions on regional and world issues and the continuous coordination between the two friendly countries, adding that “there are many ties that unite us with the Kuwaiti side and a historical relationship of Friendship and the issues that are always communicated between us.
He welcomed the imminent holding of the strategic dialogue between his country and the State of Kuwait in Washington early next October, indicating that this dialogue was under discussion among the discussions and discussions he had with officials in Kuwait today.
He explained that the dialogue will deal with aspects of bilateral relations and joint cooperation in various fields, especially commercial and defense, and the threats facing the region, as well as regional issues, especially those related to combating terrorism.
